    Goodbye Livejournal ...
Just to let you guys know that we've been on tour with The Juliana Theory and Haste the Day across Europe for about 2 and a half weeks now and we have a week left of tour. They are all great dudes and we love them very much. We also love Casey, Nick and Nanouk.

Also, we will no longer be posting journal entries here. Myspace pretty much owns the world now, so just check out our blog entries over there ...

    Alright ...
So for those of you who haven't heard, we're touring for 3 weeks in europe with The Juliana Theory and Haste the Day. We are super psyched! we're touring with great bands in super cool countries! oh and we've got a nightliner tourbus! should be totally awesome ... and smelly. better pack deodorant and lots of it.

if we're hitting up your town, come check us out! we'll be that opening band that nobody really cares about, even though you should.

we're getting brand new merch printed soon too, which for some strange reason i find super exciting. chris is working on some sick designs and i can't wait to see them on print.

expect a lot of journal updates when we're on tour! or at least whenever we can get to an internet connection. we'll totally fill you on all the madness and shenanigans. although i doubt we'll be partying hard since we've gotta keep it together for 3 weeks ... our sanity that is. Haven't actually toured for this long in quite a while!

so i went to see my chemical romance and every time i die the other day. both were good, but ETID stole the show (as usual). they rool for sure. opening band - DriveBy- was pretty good too. something that does not rool = sweaty 16 years old jumping up and down on your foot.

alright well i gotta go for band practice now, so here are our upcoming tour dates. come check us out peeps!

There will be a tour ...
announcement coming very soon! Perhaps even tomorrow. We're just waiting to sign the contract and then we'll let you know exactly who we'll be touring with.

What I CAN tell you is that it'll be across Europe (Belgium, Holland, France, Germany, Italy, Austria & the UK) for 3 weeks in January, and that we'll be supporting 2 American bands.

Oh, and we're touring in a real tourbus with beds and everything ............ YEEESSSSSSSS!!! HELL YEAH!!!!!!!!

Besides that we've already started confirming shows for March and April, so expect us on the road a lot early next year!

In other news, we just bought a computer with some sweet recording programs on it for our rehearsal room, since my 16 track recorded died. We're having a total blast with it and we've actually got about 25 songs (not all complete of course) for the next album already! We've started previewing some of this material at our shows already, so keep your ears peeled!

Ok, well see you guys on the road REEEAAAAAAAL soon and stay tuned to this space (or zaccharia.com) for the official tour press release!

    Imran

ps : It's my birthday on the 7th of December. Buy me presents.

    wow ...
A massive update is definitely in order ... it's been far too long!

So, our debut album DIVORCE has finally been released! Go to your nearest store and pick up a copy ... if they don't have it, ask them to order it! To celebrate, we played an awesome release party show last Friday. The atmosphere was insane, everyone had an amazing time and it was just a lot of fun! I hit Vinz in the face with my guitar though, but after a quick trip to the hospital and 4 stitches later, we were back at the party!
Thanks to everybody that showed up! it was definitely a night to remember ...

Our next few months will basically be filled with interviews and shows! Check out our website (soon to be revamped, but im actually not allowed to tell you guys that yet ... oops too late), for more info!

More updates will follow ... seriously!

    An update at last!
Hey guys and gals ... Ok I know that it's been ages since we updated this thing, but we've been busy as hell. I know that's not an excuse for not updating our journal, but well, there you go ... The world's been going mad lately anyway, so I doubt that anyone would really notice whether this was up to scratch or not. But anyway ...

We're starting our run of festivals for July and August pretty soon which we're pretty excited about, and then the album drops in September. Feels like we've been waiting for forever to release it, so now that things are finally coming to fruition, a great weight's being lifted from our shoulders! September/October is also when we start playing a whole bunch of shows to promote Divorce, so check out our website for dates or myspace even - www.myspace.com/zacchariarock ... we might be hitting a town near you pretty soon!

speaking of myspace, isn't it crazy how it's become one of the dominating sources for cool young hipsters on the net recently (well, over the past year or so)? i bet that 1/10 people that you cross walking down the street everyday are on it. i mean seriously ... if that dude tom actually exists and owned myspace, he could take over the world. but luckily he doesn't own it ... rupert Murdoch does ... he bought the company for 580 million $ !!! bet you didnt know that. anyway, i just think its crazy how something can gain so much momentum in such short time.

alright, what other interesting trivia do I have for you ... ermmm. none. i should actually talk about the band a bit ...

well phyl got a new guitar (ESP Viper) and vinz got a new bass (Epiphone something or other, to replace the one that he smashed into 10000 little bits)! I still have to post photos of our new rehearsal room which has become a 2nd home to us now. we've been writing a lot of new material lately, even though we shouldnt be, but hey, its oozing out of us and who would we be to turn off the creative tap? maybe we'll start previewing some of the material by September, but we still have to see about that. for once we actually have time to take it easy and work on things instead of having to constantly rush!

besides that, ive basically been in a routine of getting up at around noon working for the band until about 19h, going to the rehearsal room, getting home at about 3h, watching a DVD, and then repeat. surprisingly enough, it feels quite rewarding. oh, and i can make sushi now. phyl says he can make lasagne. i believe him.

i also decided that i have to have barbecue at least 5 times this Summer ... AT LEAST! so far I'm up to 3, so things aren't going too great. if anyone can hook me up and wants to invite me to a BBQ party... I am so there! just dont burn stuff. charcoal is not yummy. neither is the color black.

ok im going to bed now ... which means im going to watch a movie.

    sayonara amigos.

ps : buy our album when it comes out in September.
    ps2 : book us for a show - booking@black-orchid.net
ps3 : listen to mastodon, thrice and coldplay ..... all at once. it's interesting.
ps4 : table tennis is possibly one of the greatest sports ever invented.

so our show last friday was cancelled. somebody fucked up big-time (and no, it wasnt us). it was a benefit for unicef so it's a total bummer especially since we'd really been looking forward to it. hope you didnt go. apparently there was some folkloric event planned instead, so maybe if you did go you would have had a good time anyway.

anyway, we got a couple of cool new shows coming up ... the 7th, 14th and 19th ... then we're taking a break in june so that we can properly take care of the mixing of the album. after that we're basically going to be setting up a tour schedule for the end of this year. we already have some pretty sweet stuff in the works, so stay tuned !

damn I miss being on tour. you have no idea.

in other news, the weather rocks ! im actually sitting here in my tshirt, which rules. being topless would rule more though.

    playlist :

    Jimmy eat world - futures
Open hand - you and me
The Used - In love and death
Bury your dead - cover your tracks
Every time I die - last night in town

    Ath Rock ...
So we played one of the most incredible shows ever last night ... Packed house to about 1000 people, maybe more and we got the best crowd reaction ever! highlights include :

    - the wall of girls sitting on boys' shoulders right in front of us (must have been about 15 of them)
    - vinz talking into a microphone for the first time in his life
    - vinz's girly voice
    - kids that were crowdsurfing
    - seeing a thousand people raise their arms in the air and sing along

    total sweetness. thank you Ath.

next friday we're playing a benefit show for Unicef in Brussels. it's at the BSG on the VUB campus and it's only 5 euros for 3 bands, so come out ... it's for a great cause and there'll be a sweet after-party !!!

currently listening to Comeback Kid and Open Hand ... get into it.

    iPOD ...
In the words of Bono, the iPOD is the best invention since the electric guitar .... And yes. It truly is.

I have finally gotten my hands on one, and it rules harder than I could ever have imagined. I've spent the last three days uploading like crazy and have got 1500 songs on it and I'm not even half way finished yet! If you don't have one, save up and get one now!

    Ok, enough consumerism.

We've been playing a bunch of awesome shows/fests lately (Liege, Brussels, La Louviere) and have some super cool ones coming up (Ath, Soignies, ...)! And we have a whole bunch more that should be announced within the next week or two. Thank you so much to all the cool people that have been coming out to see us! We're playing another benefit show on the 29th of April in Brussels, this time for UNICEF! So come and support them! Its at the BSG on the VUB campus and only 5 euros for kick-ass bands.

We know that you're all wondering when we're going to release our album ... the truth is, we first have to sort out a lot of stuff that really sucks and makes things way more complicated than necessary (I won't go into the details), but basically, things should be sorted within the next week or two and we'll have a release date ready! In the meantime what you can do is come to our shows, memorize our set and then play it over in your head when you're in bed at night.

    Playlist :

Hey I got an iPOD now so i listen to about 100 bands a day. Shuffle mode rocks. But here's what tops my charts this month :

    - A Perfect Circle : Emotive
    - Bury Your Dead : Cover Your Tracks
    - Terror : Overcome
    - Thrice : Artist in the Ambulance
    - The Killers : Hot Fuss
    - He Is Legend : I Am Hollywood
    - My Chemical Romance : Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge (I've been listening to this for the past year now and I'll be listening to it for years to come)!!!!
    - Hope of the States : Lost Riots
    - Mastodon : Leviathan
    - Bad Brains : I Against I
    - Hopesfall : A-Types
    - Machine Head : Burn My Eyes
    - Sahara Hotnights : Kiss and Tell
    - Unearth : The Oncoming Storm
    - Mnemic : The Audio Injected Soul

Hey, thanks to everyone that came to see us last Saturday. We want to apologize for the little incident at the end of our set; it was an accident and the person that was unfortunately on the receiving end is fine.

So anyway ... come and party with us on Saturday the 26th ! It's for a great cause (Child Focus) and it seriously will be one huge party !

    ------------------------------------------

    It's been a while ...
I know I know, but here we are ! sorry for our laziness over the past month. we havent posted in quite a while, BUT we've been WORKING OUR BUTTS OFF booking shows for 2005. things are looking good, but will mostly kick off in march.

anyway, i have to be serious here for a second ...

i'm organizing a benefit show for Child Focus who are a superb organization that handle missing children cases. it's an organization that im pretty attached to (those of you who know me will probably know why), and it would mean a lot to me and CF of course, if you showed up ... so here are the details :

    26 March 2005 @ Magasin 4 (4 Rue du Magasin, 1000 Brussels)

    17h - 7 euros

and this is what you get :

    - Death Before Disco (http://www.partybullet.com)
    - Zaccharia (http://www.zaccharia.com / http://www.divorcerocks.net)
    - Melchior (http://www.melchiormusic.com)
    - Hutchinson (http://www.hutchinson.be)
    - Jigsaw
    - My Sun is Burning

+ a deep feeling of well-being, knowing that you've done something good for a change instead of spend money on a new iPod

speaking of which ... i want an iPod. seems like the trend is slowly starting to hit over here in europe. i was in chicago a while ago and EVERYONE had one.

    highlights of my trip :
    - Chicago Bulls vs New York Knicks LIVE
    - my first ever ice hockey match
    - buying a tonload of CDs for dirt cheap (well compared to Europe in any case ...)
    - Jojo & the tigers (no, theyre not a band)
    - -16degrees celsius ... i thought my face would fall of

    - and other stuff

So yeah, its 2005, a new year, bla bla ... i dont have any resolutions (because i break them after about 3 minutes into the new year), but what i do have is a list of what i think are 2004's greatest albums. i think you should own them all. So here they are, in no particular order :

(and for the french speaking kids) ...

    meilleurs albums de 2004 :

    1) My Chemical Romance - Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge
    2) Green Day - American Idiot
    3) The Killers - Hot Fuss
    4) Throwdown - Haymaker
    5) Bury Your Dead - Cover Your Tracks
    6) Mastodon - Leviathan
    7) Eighteen Visions - Obsession
    8) Maroon 5 - Songs About Jane
    9) Keane - Hopes and Fears
    10) Slipknot - V3
and one more because im different
    11) Thrice - Artist in the Ambulance (ok, its 2003 i know, but i got to it a bit late ... it still rocks your face off)

and other new albums were pretty cool but didnt quite make the top 10 :

The Faint, Terror, Coheed and Cambria, A Perfect Circle, Dillinger Escape Plan, The Scissor Sisters, The Hives, Lost Prophets, HIM (best of)

thats all i got for now, se you at a show real soon.

    end of semester
ive got one week of college left and then im on holiday for a month and a half. sweet.

besides working my butt off for school, we've been going out to concerts and partying it up a bit. we were invited to go see aqme and vegastar the other day and partied with them afterwards. cool dudes, especially vegastar. also went to see dillinger escape plan with poison the well a few days back. they ripped and so does dillinger's new album. get it.
got my ticket for mars volta in february. ive never seen them before, so im pretty psyched.

cool music ive been listening to these days :

    green day - american idiot
    a perfect circle - emotive
dillinger escape plan - miss machine
killswitch engage - end of heartache
    slayer - reign in blood
thrice - artist in the ambulance (this album seriously grows on you in ways that you wouldnt expect)
mars volta - deloused in the comatorium
    mastodon - leviathan
    sigur ros -()

and other stuff that i cant remember so it couldnt have been that good

sorry, dont have much else to report ...

we're still busy working stuff out with labels for the release of the album and we're still setting up our tour schedule for 2005. you'll know when it's all ready.

    take care,

    HEYHEY!
Thanks to everyone who came to our show last friday ... our curse continued under the form of a general public transport strike, so basically no trams, metros or busses. also, my voice was broken since we'd been rehearsing so much before and we ended up playing about an hour later than scheduled i think, but we still rocked like madmen and were sooooooooooooo happy to finally play. thank you to all the super people who rocked out with us. you truly ruled our world. also, mega props to our new merchman Joseph. hes a christian but hes still figuring stuff out, so hes cool. next time you see him, buy him a beer and for God's sake, give him a tip !
got home at about 6am. asleep by 7. good times.

also, thanks to the other zaccharia dudettes for tricking me. ok, so i go home after sound check (i dont live too far from the venue), i fall asleep for a while and i get woken up by phyl telling me that we're playing at 20h instead of 23h30, so i start flipping out and jump out of bed. but then vinz calls back to ask if im ready yet and then lets me in on the fact that its a joke. h.a.h.a. it was his idea. of course. fucker.

i got to see the hives. they were good.

    adios

    *still listening to* :

    - my cursed romance: 3 curses for cursed revenge
    - curse of the mastodon : a leviathan's curse

    *and*

    - hoobacurse : the curse
    - cursed prophets : start a curse
    - throwdown : cursemaker

    curses and remedies
yes, it's official ... we are cursed. we're totally bummed about not being able to play on the 31st. we're like vampires, we thrive off of the energy and vibes at concerts and we're totally in need of some action. i think im starting to fade and imagining that im playing shows in my room just doesnt cut it anymore. the only thing that keeps us going these days is injecting new music into our veins (and no, you cant fit music into syringes ... we used the old-fashioned way, ie : hi-fis, discmans, car radios etc). ive been listening to the radio a lot these days and it seems that there's still just as much crap out there now as there was any other time of our existences. the only difference now is that we have 13 year olds making fortunes (by making crap). but no, seriously, i hardly qualify for a music critic since my knowledge in music and its different genres is about as limited as our scope for playing concerts before the end of the year. playlist for the end of the month :
    - my chemical romance: 3 cheers for sweet revenge
    - mastodon : leviathan
    - slipknot : sub. verses 3
    - dillinger escape plan : Miss machine
    - machine head : through the ashes of empires
    - slayer : god hates us all
    - thrice : artist in the ambulance
    - lacuna coil : comalies
    - breaking benjamin : saturate
inevitable since i went to MH, slayer, mastodon, and slipknot in paris a week ago. it ruled the shit out of me. ive got a ticket to go see the hives tonight, but we have to rehearse so i gotta give it away. bummer. kind of.

and that brings me to the most important point of this post ... well it doesnt actually, but that doesnt matter ... everybody, and i mean EVERYBODY needs to go and check out http://www.divorcerocks.net ... and just so i know that i have your attention :

    studio update
all the drums + bass tracks have been laid down, and we've only got about 3 songs left for the guitars. we've started working on vocals and all i can say is that everything is coming together very nicely ... probably way more than anticipated. we rock.

    + =

chinese food for 5 days in a row
    lots of table tennis
    darts
charly (our sound dude) and his stories
    11h - 01h sessions

    - =

sore arms and wrists from playing too much darts
    losing table tennis balls

thats about it ... everything rules at the studio ! we're laughing way more than i think we should be (isnt recording in the studio supposed to be stressful and serious?) and are having the most awesome time ! you should be with us.

    hope youre all well.
